Temporary Stay in the U.S. - Process for Venezuelans

On October 12, 2022, the United States announced a new process that allows Venezuelan nationals and their immediate family members to come to the United States. This process provides a secure and orderly way for Venezuelan nationals who are outside the United States and do not have U.S. entry documents to be considered, on a case-by-case basis, for advance authorization to travel and a period of temporary permission to stay for up to two years for humanitarian and public benefit reasons. To participate in this process, Venezuelan nationals must:

  • Have a support person in the United States;
  • Undergo and pass a robust security investigation;
  • Meet other eligibility criteria; and
  • To merit a favorable exercise of discretion.

Individuals participating in the process must have a support person in the United States who agrees to provide financial support for the duration of their temporary permission to stay in the United States.
